Shoes. Clothing, or accessory?

So, I had a little debate with someone planning on moving out of their dorm, and got to noting she doesn't count shoes as clothing. I was upset, my shoes are clothes to me, but she sees them as accessories. Opinions? Try having voted within 2 weeks time.

They are more of a protective thingy than clothing or accessories.
